Disney Vacation Club Announces New Resort in Hawaii

23 October 2008

Disney made it offical last week when they announced they would be opening a new Disney Vacation Club Resort in Hawaii

It looks like this is going to be a big one – 350 hotel rooms and 480 private villas for vacation club members.  But that’s not all – there’s also going to be some amazing ammenities such as gardens, pools, water slides, a fake volcano caldera, a spa, a banquet and meeting space, two towers, and even wedding facilities!

The announcement was made in Kapolei Hale, in Honolulu‘s city hall.  In attendance was Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, Jay Rasulo, Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, City Councilman Todd Apo, Ko Olina developer Jeff Stone and Ko Olina resort executive John Toner.

Construction is planned to start next year on 21 acres at the Ko Olina Resort & Marina in West Oahu.  They haven’t said anything about what it will cost or what they will charge for each room, but they have scheduled to open it in just 3 years.

According to the Mouse Kingdom blog Disney plans to construct more stand alone resorts like this one which aren’t part of the big theme parks.
